Coach's Letter

Hello prospective U18 C parents and players,

My name is Mike Thomas and I will be the head coach of the U18C team this year. I have been involved with the KGHA for the last 8 years as a trainer, goalie coach, and assistant coach at both the house and competitive levels. This will be my first year as a head coach and I’m excited to take on this new challenge.

My coaching philosophy is to focus on possession and systems play, reinforcing a team-first mentality. I believe each player is unique and will try to work and motivate them taking this into consideration. We expect to have 3-4 ice times per week and it is expected that players will attend all ice times. Obviously, things can come up, and family and school are priorities, however competitive hockey is a commitment. Our staff will be fully committed to the team and we expect no less from the players. 

We will be in 4-5 tournaments with a least 2 of these being away tournaments. I anticipate team fees will be approximately 1700-2000 dollars. This will be confirmed in September at our first parent's meeting. Once the team is finalized I will be sending out an email looking for help from parents for roles like Manager, Trainer etc…
