U7 Information

Welcome to U7!

We are pleased to welcome you and your child to their first or second season of hockey!  We look forward to seeing them flourish as individuals and teammates while they grow their love of Canada's favourite game.

KGHA’s U7 program will be based on the Hockey Canada U7 Player Pathway.  It is a progressive learning experience for our young players where they will be sure to have fun and enjoy a positive experience.  For more information on the program, please visit: https://owha.on.ca/content/u7-program.

The U7 group will begin their season on Saturday, October 5th.  There will be no formal evaluations of players.  While groups/teams of players will be created to allow for participation in a fun day/jamboree during the season, the group overall will be cohesive.

Below you will find the ice times for U7’s first weekend of hockey.  Note that the first day is a two hour block and players are split into two groups based on a player’s last name.  Please attend the ice time assigned to your player based on your last name.

It is recommended that you arrive at least 30-45 minutes before your scheduled ice time to allow sufficient time to put on hockey gear and ensure things run smoothly.  We want to create a positive experience for the players, give them time to get familiar with a dressing room, with all of the gear they need to put on, and hopefully give them some time to get to know a few of their teammates before going on the ice.

Please remember to bring your child’s hockey water bottle.  The bottle should allow them to drink with their helmets still secured.  Kindly identify the water bottle with your child’s name (first and last) to ensure they can identify them easily.

Parents are asked to remain in the stands during the hour their child is on the ice. Players will be well looked after and supported.  Should there be any challenges during the ice time, your player will be escorted to the door by the entrance to the ice surface where you can meet them to offer support.  Parents are not permitted on player benches.  The ice time will include our head coaches, on-ice support/volunteers, and a certified trainer to ensure your player has a great first experience.  Thank you for your collaboration.
