Required Equipment and Proper Fitting
In order to participate in hockey, players are required to wear appropriately fitted mandatory equipment. The following items must be worn at all times on the ice:
For information on proper fitting of equipment, you can watch Hockey Canada’s Proper Equipment Fitting video or reference the Safety Requires Teamwork & Safety for All document starting at page 66 for detailed information on equipment for both players and goalies.
Please note that changes to the dressing room policies recently came into effect. It is now required that “Minimal Attire” be worn at all times in the dressing room. To change out of minimal attire, a player must use a private stall to do so. U7 Information (see next section for U9 Information)
Hi KGHA U7 parents/guardians,
Below is some further information for the start of our season along with the first set of ice times and dates/locations.
Since there are no formal evaluations for the U7 program, it will begin later in September. The first weekend is scheduled as follows:
| Date | Start Time | End Time | Location |
| Saturday, September 26 | 12:00PM | 1:00PM | Bell Centennial (BCENT) |
| Sunday, September 27 | 8:15AM | 9:15AM | Cardel Rec- Pad B (CRC-B) |
Please note: All players should attend both days. Please arrive 30-45 minutes before the ice times. During the first weekend, players will participate in basic skating drills to assess skill levels. It's perfectly fine if some players cannot yet skate, or struggle to skate; we'll ensure they have sufficient support. The first weekend can be a bit busy with many new players, so thank you in advance for your patience, help, and positive energy! We can't wait to get started.
U9 Information
Hi KGHA U9 parents/guardians,
Below is some further information for the start of our season along with the first set of ice times and dates/locations.
As part of the Hockey Canada Player Pathway program, U9 players will have the opportunity to get back on the ice in a “player-friendly” scenario before formal sort-out evaluations take place. This season, player pathways will be specific to the program players have registered with. Therefore, house league pathways will welcome only house league registered players. All U9 players are invited to attend 4 pathway skates to kick off their season before sort outs. Attendance for the pathway skates is optional however, players are encouraged to attend all four 1-hour sessions to prepare for sort outs.
All players are expected to attend house league sort outs the weekend of September 26th and 27th. If your player is unable to attend their assigned ice time, please contact your convenor, Jessie Fels. U9 divisions will have a station-based skills day on the Saturday followed by games on the Sunday.
For sort outs, we kindly ask that families arrive at least 30+ minutes before the assigned ice time. This will ensure players are dressed and ready for their sort out time. If you and your child are new to hockey, we recommend that you arrive even earlier to ensure equipment is put on correctly and to provide sufficient time for a positive experience for your player. Should you require any guidance on getting your player ready, please request a volunteer’s help from the check-in desk or ask for support from other parents in the dressing room. We have fantastic hockey families and volunteers who are always willing to help support each other!
